OPNsense team announced the availability of OPNsense 22.7

For those who don’t know, OPNsense is a FreeBSD-based open source operating system specifically crafted to work with routers and firewalls and the pfSense fork.

Powerful Panther, the nickname for the latest version of OPNsense, includes an upgraded FreeBSD 13.1, Phalcon 5, PHP 8.0, Intel QuickAssist support, and stacked VLAN.

Besides the upgraded packages, OPNsense 22.7 also brings two crucial features i.e: stacked VLAN and Intel QuickAssist support. Additionally, the update brings new MVC/API pages for IPsec status and Unbound overrides and offers DDoS protection via SYN cookies. Powerful Panther further incorporates APCUPSD and CrowdSec plugins, etc.

Meanwhile, you can download OPNsense 22.7 from OPNsense’s official website.

The OPNsense team also mentioned removing LibreSSL flavor from the upcoming series. Instead, the upcoming major series will include the OpenSSL flavor. So, users are advised to switch between 22.7.X
