Equinix opens a new data center in Osaka. The digital infrastructure company has built its third data center in the region and named it Equinix OS3.

The Equinix OS3 built in the Kansai area in Osaka, Japan is the finest digital infrastructure by Equinix.

The Japanese government has been looking for enhancements in its digital infrastructure, proactively deploying digitalization in the business.

Now, the government is actively supporting startup companies and SMEs to take maximum advantage of digital technology and address their ever-evolving business environment.

The Urgency of Managing Massive Data Flow in Japan

Japan is one of the most populous countries across the globe which is widely known for its innovation in technology. And, with such a high number of technology users, there comes the urgency of managing massive data flow that too reliably and quickly.

So, to fulfill this need for managing the massive amounts of data, the Japanese leaders are partnering with dependable digital partners across the globe with a proven track record of offering reliable local and global coverage for ideal performance.

Meanwhile, the Kansai region will continue to play a crucial part in boosting Japan’s digital economy.

As per the latest Global Interconnection Index i.e: GXI Vol 5, Osaka is anticipated to grow its interconnection bandwidth at a 50% CARG (compound annual growth rate) between 2020 to 2024.

Hyperscalers Cloud Service Providers such as AWS (Amazon Web Services), Google, Microsoft, and Oracle are expected to account for the surge in interconnection bandwidth usage in Osaka, Japan. These companies are expected to scale up their investments in Osaka.

Meanwhile, the construction of the first phase of OS3 is expected to be completed by the end of 2021.

On completion of the first phase, the OS3 will be offering an initial capacity of 900 cabinets and over 33K square feet of colocation space.

Additionally, the facility when completely build-out will accommodate 2.5K cabinets and over 89.34K square feet of total colocation place.

Equinix’s OS3 is directly connected to its other data center i.e: OS1. OS3 offers a whole suite of interconnectivity solutions, including its software-defined interconnection service i.e: Equinix Fabric.

Equinix Osaka data center is estimated to be about $55M in value. Equinix’s Osaka campus has a rich ecosystem of 25+ network service providers.
