SA Telecom Operator Telkom Partners with Huawei for 5G Services Launch

Reportedly, leading infrastructure and communications technology provider, Huawei will be offering kits to Telkom for launching a high-speed 5G network in South Africa.

Following the 5G rollout, Telkom will become the third country to do so just after Vodacom and MTN.

Fortune Wang, Huawei South Africa carrier business director said, “The Covid pandemic has driven significant lifestyle changes for South Africans, due to work from home or school from home, online shopping, and an ‘always on’ kind of culture.”

Huawei continues to partner with numerous operators across the globe in spite of the fact that it faced several challenges including the UK over security risks.

For those who don’t know, Telkom is planning to acquire South Africa’s fourth-biggest operator Rain.
