WhatsApp has begun rolling out a new update for iOS devices that lets users play voice messages in the background.

Now, users can play voice messages and audio files outside the chat window. For that time being, this feature is exclusively available to Apple users while no details about the update availability on Android devices has been provided yet. In the last few months, the chat messaging platform had been actively working on enhancing its voice notes feature across various platforms.

Earlier this year, WhatsApp was said to be working on a global voice message player.

Now, the global voice message player for WhatsApp has been rolled out to iOS users. WhatsApp for iOS v22.4.75 will allow users to play voice messages and audio files outside the chat. This signifies that now users can chat with one person while listening to the voice message of another person.

As we cited above there are no details about when this feature will be rolled out to Android users.

Users can see the audio player on the top of the screen with the name of the user who sent the voice message. Additionally, the player also allows playing, pausing and closing the voice message.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp for Desktop also got the player similar to one rolled to iOS devices. But, the player is shown at the bottom of chat lists.
