On November 22, Twitter through a blog post announced the new live shopping experience
Popular microblogging platform, Twitter (TWTR) is collaborating with Walmart to test its live shopping feature. This new feature will allow users to buy items straight from Twitter while watching the live shopping stream. On November 28, Twitter will conduct its first test of the live shopping stream.
Twitter along with Walmart will commence the Cyber week with the first-ever live shopping stream that will be hosted by popular r&b singer Jason Derulo. The Cyber Deals Sunday event will start at 7 pm ET.
During the Cyber Deals event users can watch the live stream and concurrently buy products (home goods, electronics, seasonal decor, apparel, etc.) from Walmart on their iOS device or desktop.
Users can check out the Shoppable Banner and Shop Tab on the live event’s page.
Talking about the live stream shop feature, Twitter said live streaming on its platform offers businesses the power to engage with their fans while bringing the ability to shop will attract more receptive audiences.
Meanwhile, the microblogging platform has started testing Twitter Shopping Manager to assist with merchant onboarding and product catalog management.
The Twitter Shopping Manager will offer merchants a one-stop-shop solution that will let them know where they are showing on the platform, Twitter added.
The company further noted that it will be introducing more products to enhance the shopping experience on Twitter.
Twitter’s journey into live stream shopping comes after a feature introduced in July 2021 named Shop Module.
It seems Twitter is not just the one that’s shown interest in the live streaming shopping trend. This month, Facebook released Live Shopping for creators, a YouTube hosting shopping event named YouTube Holiday Stream and Shop, and lastly Pinterest announcement of Pinterest TV.
