Telegram Tests Premium Subscription for iPhones

According to various reports, the popular securing messaging app has begun testing Telegram, 8.7.2 beta for iOS which includes an exclusive collection of emojis and stickers hidden behind the paywall.

Users will need to sign up for a subscription to avail the exclusive emojis and stickers. The free users won’t see these features instead they will see the call to action for subscribing to the Telegram premium service.

Meanwhile, Telegram hasn’t provided any details about the pricing and the availability of this feature. Android Police first spotted this feature on the iOS beta app.

Currently, Telegram generates revenue through ad sales and features for group channels. But after the rollout of Telegram Premium, things could change.

This is not the first time that a social media platform is charging extra for premium reactions. Twitch and Discord introduced subscription options for extra emojis and customizations.
