Meta to expand its Altoona campus by adding two new buildings in the region.
The social media company said that the expansion of the Altoona data center is scheduled to be completed by 2025. The total size of the campus upon completion will be more than five million square feet.
Meta will be expanding the Altoona Data Center for the seventh time since its initial construction in 2013.
On completion of this data center, it will be Meta’s largest operational data center in the world.
The company estimates that the total cost of expanding the data center will be more than $2.5 billion.
A few months back too, the company announced the Altoona campus expansion with the addition of two new buildings and scheduled to be completed by 2023.
In 2021, Facebook announced dozens of new data center buildings at its existing Altoona, Eagle Mountain, Huntsville, Los Lunas, Prineville, Papillion campuses, totaling over five million sq ft of new space.
Additionally, the company is also planning to expand its Odense campus in Denmark.
