In 2018, the photo and video sharing platform rolled out a feature named ‘Your Activity’ that allowed users to keep track of the average time they spent on the social media platform. In addition, the meta-owned Instagram app introduced a feature that lets users have control over the app usage. However, after the recent update, the platform changed within the daily time limit and set it to a minimum of 30 minutes per day earlier; the minimum time limit was 10 minutes per day.
The Take a Break feature is crafted to offer users the functionality to track spend timing on the app.
Instagram offers daily time limit options ranging from 30 minutes to three hours. The social media platform offered options for 10 minutes and 15 minutes daily time limit spent on Instagram.
The recent change within the daily time limit was first covered by the popular tech news website TechCrunch. As per this news report, Instagram notifies its users with a popup that the new app update brings the updated daily time limit option. Additionally, the report also notes that Instagram changed the app settings following the announcement of Meta’s Q4 2021 revenue generation report.
Later on Tuesday, Instagram confirmed the app setting changes through a tweet. In addition, the social media platform stated that they had modified daily limit options to avoid sending people several notifications concurrently.
Back in 2021, Instagram started introducing the Take a Break feature to users worldwide with an intention to offer users better control and management on the time they are spending on the social media platform.
