Privacy-focused search engine DuckDuckGo is reportedly working on a new desktop browser, to offer its users a secure and private internet experience.
The DuckDuckGo browsers have been broadly accepted by mobile users with more than 10 million downloads on the Google Play store alone.
The internet privacy company DuckDuckGo in its blog post said that the company will be focusing on making its desktop app more user-friendly and privacy protected than its rival i.e: Google Chrome.
The blog post further notes that the browser maker will not fork Chromium but instead use OS-offered rendering engines for building their desktop app. By doing so, they will be able to eliminate all of the unessential stuff accumulated over the years in major browsers.
Furthermore, the company says their privacy-focused desktop browser will comprise just robust privacy protection that works all over the platform (browsing, email, searches, etc). DuckDuckGo for the desktop will offer users enhanced online privacy.
Now while we talk about the stats, DuckDuckGo stands at the top for most downloaded browsing apps on Android in major markets and holds the second position on iOS, after Google Chrome.
Globally, the company’s privacy apps and extensions have been downloaded more than 150 million times.
