Instant messaging and photo-sharing app Snapchat is working on a new way to reward the creators within the app. The CompanyCompany is planning to introduce revenue-sharing ads within the story.

As per The Verge’s report, Snapchat will be rolling an update in forthcoming months where we will see ads being placed in a Snap Star’s story; Snapchat will then share the revenue with the creators.

The Company cites that its revenue share model will consider metrics like the frequency of posts and engagement. Furthermore, it notes that the feature will only be accessible to creators, public figures having large followings, verified on Snapchat (Gold Star).

Over the years, Snapchat has introduced numerous methods for creators to earn some money through the app. The social media app already shows ads among the friends’ Stories and on the Discover section; however, this is the first time that Snapchat will display ads within the stories.

The move from the Company comes following Snapchat’s user decline.

Evan Spiegel, CEO of Snapchat, said that the users were spending more time watching content on Spotlight than posting and viewing stories on Snapchat.

Meanwhile, the CompanyCompany says that it paid more than $250 million to creators making top Spotlight videos in 2021.
