Singapore Telecommunications Limited (Singtel), Gulf Energy, and mobile phone operator Advanced Info Services (AIS) collaborate to build a data center in Thailand.

For those who don’t know Gulf Energy is Thailand’s biggest private power producer while AIS is one of the leading telcos in Thailand. Additionally, it is also the regional associate of Singtel.

The collaboration is said to be a part of Singtel’s digital strategy to grow the data center business with its partners.

According to various reports, the site selection process has been initiated while the data center development will start soon.

Singtel said that the inclusion of Advanced Info Services in its partnership with Gulf Energy comes as a part of the mobile phone operator’s extensive local sales force with strong relationships with the Thai enterprise and local data center operations expertise will help in offering connectivity solutions for data center business.

That said Singtel believes the energy industry leader Gulf Energy and telecommunication giant AIS are capable of tightening and accelerating plans for the data centers thereby capturing both local enterprises and multinational hyperscaler clients.

The company further notes, under Joint Development Agreement (JDA) the trio companies will work closely and efficiently to establish their joint venture company.
