Oracle has released Oracle Linux 9, the latest version of a high-performing and secure operating system.

Oracle Linux 9 incorporates Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel Release 7 and Red Hat Compatible Kernel. Besides these two kernel releases, the update additionally includes enhancements in the file system, VirtualBox shared folder, OpenSSL 3.0, and Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel.

Oracle Linux 9 is now available for x86_64 systems and Arm platforms. The update mainly focuses on performance and security enhancements.

Like we said before, the newest update brings UEKR7 and compatibility support for the latest hardware. In addition to the security updates, a new security feature to avoid side-channel attacks has been included. Furthermore, this Oracle Linux update brings the ability to debug the systems with CTF debug info data.

OpenSSL 3.0 brings numerous improvements and enhancements for developers and users. UEK R7 incorporated parallel filesystem sync capabilities, asynchronous SSD trimming, and more minimal checksum tree lookups.
