Windows 10 KB5014666 Update Brings Several Bug Fixes

As a part of the monthly C update, Microsoft on Tuesday rolled out Windows 10 KB514666 update.

With the KB514666 update, the OS giant has brought several bug fixes and new printing features for Windows 10 20H2, Windows 10 21H1, and Windows 10 21H2.

This cumulative update for Windows 10 has been added as a part of Microsoft’s June 2022 monthly “C” preview update. The preview update will let admins and users test the upcoming update which is scheduled to be released as a part of the July patch Tuesday update.

A cumulative preview update doesn’t include any bug fixes or enhancements whereas a patch Tuesday update contains both bug fixes and security enhancements.

Meanwhile, users can download the update by going to Settings >> Windows Update >>> Check for Updates.

Note: As this is a cumulative update, users will have to manually install the update by clicking on the download and install button link.

Additionally, users can check out Microsoft Update Catalog to download the KB5014666 update.

With that being said, let us discuss the features included in the June preview update.

Windows 10 KB5014666 Highlights

Microsoft in the June preview update brings support for the Internet Print Protocol (IPP) on USB printers.

Microsoft’s update release notes explain, “Microsoft has supported Internet Print Protocol (IPP) for network printers starting in 2018 with the release of Windows 10, version 1809. We are now expanding IPP support to USB printers.”

A few of the printer features included in the update are:

PSA or Printer support app for extending printer capabilities and user experience.

PIN-protected printing: Users can add a PIN code for the printing function.

eSCL Morpia Scan protocol allows being used with Morpia-certified scanner devices.

Besides, the addition of printer features, the update includes twenty-six improvements or fixes, we are highlighting two of them below.

  • Fixed an issue that doesn’t allow users to connect to hotspot features.
  • Fixed an issue that affects the touchpad area that responds to a right-click.

Once you have installed this cumulative preview update, the Windows Windows 10 20H2 will be updated to build 19042.1806, Windows 10 21H1 will be updated to build 19043.1806, and Windows 10 21H2 will be updated to build 19044.1806.
