As Gooogle rolls out the new Google Meet web app just a few days after zoom released one. Now, there is no need to hit the URL or go to Gmail to initiate a meeting on Google Meet, you can just download the app on your laptop and utilize it.
Google has introduced a new standalone web app for Google Meet. The web app is also known as Progressive Web Application comprises all the features of the Google Meet app, however, it is strictly just for the web. You just need to download the app on your laptop, personal computer, or MacBook to use it. This announcement by Google comes just after Zoom announced its own PWA(Progressive Web Applications).
If you are pondering about how different the Google Meet web app would be from Google Meet, Google has given clarification that there is no change in the functionality of both the app. Hence, if you download the Google Meet app on either your PC or laptop, you no longer need to find them all way through in the browser to start a meeting. You can run this app and just open it to initiate a meeting just like we do on smartphones.
Talking about the new Progressive Web App, Google gave a statement that they have launched a new Google Meet standalone web app. The PWA all the features of Google Meet on the web, standalone app its quite simpler to find and use, you don’t need to switch between tabs.
Regardless of the operating system, the Google Meet web app will run with Google Chrome browser version 73 and above. Additionally, Google will show pop-ups to try the Google Meet web app in the upper right-hand corner of the main Google Meet opening page. You can either click the installation button offered in the pop-up or close it if you already have the web application.
The web app would be available to all Google Workspace clients, alongside G Suite Basic and Business customers and users with personal Google Accounts.
