During The Game Awards, Google announced its plans to bring Android games to Windows PCs in 2022. The tech giant will release its Google Play Games app next year that will allow Windows users to run the Android games from the play store on their desktops, laptops, and tablets.

This move from Google will allow users to switch between Android and Windows PCs and tablets concurrently. Meanwhile, there is no confirmation on whether Google will release all Google Play Store titles once the platform reaches Windows devices.

Google Play Games offers a centralized place for its users to manage their player accounts, store, and sync game data, achievements, and testing.

Meanwhile, Google’s product director of games on Android and Google Play, Mr. Greg Hartell said, starting from next year, players can enjoy playing their favorite Google Play games on more devices, and likewise, they will be able to switch between phone, tablet, and Chromebook seamlessly. He further said they are excited to extend their platform to more devices like desktops and laptops and thereby enhance the gaming experience for their users.

Google’s announcement of Google Play Games for Windows comes months after Microsoft began testing the Android app on its newer operating system i.e: Windows 11.

While Microsoft and Google are working on bringing android app support to the Windows system, popular emulator maker BlueStacks brings  BlueStacks X Web App lets you play Android games powered by Cloud in your browser.

Just like AppleINC’s video game subscription service Apple Arcade, the Google Play Games app will allow users to continue the game on their PC from the point they left on the phone.
