Digital Infrastructure Company, Equinix has deployed a completely functional 5G and Edge Technology Development Center located at the Equinix DA11 in Dallas.
The new development center includes a completely operational, non-standalone 5G network from Nokia to test and validate several 5G services and use cases.
Through its investment, Equinix is helping several service providers and network operators to bring innovative concepts to the market by offering an agile production framework for assessing, incubating, and testing 5G and edge solutions for end-to-end secure applications.
Sean Hemphill, Vice President of Webscale Business at Nokia said that in the future when 5G will be widely adopted, the way how the internet traffic traverse across the networks will totally change. Interconnected data centers will play an important role in the new 5G-dominated future.
Equinix aims towards digital infrastructure that allows access to a huge ecosystem consisting of various service providers and end-users. Equinix Fabric will bring the power of interconnection to help clients leverage the real-world 5G and edge deployments.

Equinix’s 5G and Edge Technology Development Center will initially focus on Mobile Hybrid Multicloud Connectivity, Network Slicing, Distributed Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality, and finally the Gaming.
