Recently, the Chief Technology Officer at AWS, Mr. Werner Vogels announced a brand new and enhanced service i.e the launch of Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud WAN.
The new platform from AWS is a managed WAN service that efficiently organizes the process of connecting the on-premises data centers as well as the branch offices with the global backbone network of the cloud provider. This platform is backed by some major SD-WAN vendors including Cisco, VMware, Palo Alto Networks, and Aruba.
While talking about the new AWS Cloud WAN, Vogels said that several organizations face difficulties and challenges while building a global Wide Area Network or WAN to connect and communicate with all the cloud resources.
The larger organizations may have even more challenging and complex tasks as they need to manage and connect all of their hundreds or thousands of virtual private cloud instances on AWS.
To help resolve all these challenges, AWS is launching an AWS Cloud WAN service that will allow organizations to build, manage and monitor a WAN with the help of its platform.
The new service offers users a highly reliable and highly available software-defined wide area network running over the AWS infrastructure, Vogels added.
Cloud WAN is available in ten AWS Regions in Public Preview; US East (Northern Virginia), US West (Northern California), Africa (Cape Town), Asia Pacific (Mumbai), Asia Pacific (Singapore), Asia Pacific (Sydney), Asia Pacific (Tokyo), Europe (Ireland), Europe (Frankfurt), and South America (São Paulo).
