Telia Carrier extends its network in The Netherlands with a new network Point-of-Presence (PoP) in Rotterdam.

The Smartdc’s colocation data center located at Rotterdam is the largest in the Zuid-Holland territory and has been identified at the FD Gazellen Awards for exhibiting high growth and innovative entrepreneurship. The new Point-of-presence connects the current Amsterdam network directly to the Brussels network through a separate link to ensure full route diversity.

The 100 Gigabit Ethernet (GE) enabled network Point-of-Presence in Rotterdam denotes the very first Telia Carrier’s expansion in The Netherlands outside the Amsterdam metro area where the company already has 12 network PoPs.

The new direct connections to both Amsterdam and Brussels will help access the Telia Carrier’s AS1299 network with complete redundancy.

Christoph Lannert, Head of EMEA Sales at Telia Carrier stated that currently, digital transformation is evolving at the speed of light, and being a prominent global Tier 1 carrier, we are at the center of it. Following the events of 2020, we are observing an exceptional rise in demand and multi-regional presence is more significant than ever.

We continue to extend our network globally and are driving closer to the edge, offering a wide set of industries with mission-critical connectivity. Our most current network PoP at Smartdc in Rotterdam is an excellent illustration of this.

The Smartdc data center in Rotterdam offers clients in industries as diverse as financial services, healthcare, telecommunications, and online gaming. Telia Carrier, Smartdc will allow providing its data center colocation clients with direct access to one of the largest Internet backbones in the world.
