On Wednesday, the meta-owned social media platform, Instagram announced that is going to introduce two chronological post feed options.
With the introduction of the two need feed options, users will be able to filter out the posts on their timeline according to the following or favourite feeds and also the default feed which shows ranked as well as the suggested posts in a non-chronological order.
Instagram further explained that the users who pick the following feed option will see the posts of the accounts they follow on the platform whereas the favourite feed option will show the posts of the people they have favourited (similar to the close friends feature).
Instagram’s default feed timeline shows the posts based on several factors such as account information, user activities, post information, interaction with the accounts.
Once the feature is available for the end-users, they can easily access the favourites feed option to show the posts from a selective group of people. Instagram says that currently, it will allow adding up to 50 accounts to the favourites list. Like the close friends list, the users won’t be notified whether they have been added or removed from your favourites list.
Furthermore, Instagram also said that they will show the favourite accounts higher when switched back to the default non- chronological home feed.
Note: Though Instagram has introduced two new feed options, Instagram’s rank feed will still be the default.
