On Monday, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that Facebook is setting up a product team to work on the VR metaverse, a virtual world where people can move between different devices and communicate in a virtual environment.

The product team will be part of the company’s virtual reality organization, the group’s executive Andrew Bosworth said in a Facebook post.

The previous week, Mark Zuckerberg had an interview with The Verge where he told that VR metaverse can be considered as an embodied web, which is more than just viewing content material; you are part of it.

Fb, the world’s biggest social media platform has invested a substantial amount in augmented reality and virtual reality while developing hardware such as Oculus VR headsets and working on AR glasses and wristband technologies.

Additionally, the company has acquired numerous VR gaming studios, including BigBox VR. Nearly 10k employees are working on virtual reality.

Zuckerberg further said that he believes that it is a sensible move to invest massively in the technology that he is sure will be the next huge computing platform.

In his Monday’s Fb post, Zuckerberg said that he believes the metaverse will be the successor to the cellular web, and making this product group is the next step in our journey that will help us work on VR metaverse.
