According to the 2022 Stack Overflow Developer Survey, developers prefer the free and open-source operating system; Linux over Apple’s macOS.

Microsoft’s Windows 10 is the most popular operating system in 2022 with about 70% of distributions. Linux distros account for 40% of personal and professional use and are considered to be one of the most customizable and adaptable OS for developers.

While macOS accounts for 31% of individual users and 33% of business users.

Reportedly, Statcounter figures show that Microsoft’s latest operating system; Windows 11 usage rate increased in 2022 from 3% in January to 16% in November.

As far as personal use is concerned, it’s no big surprise that Windows is way ahead of other operating systems. However, to drive growth forward, Linux is the gold standard.
