Prominent IT consulting firm Wipro has announced the acquisition of Edgile, a Texas-based cybersecurity consulting provider for $230 million. The deal is expected to close before March 31.

The acquisition will strengthen Wipro’s cybersecurity capabilities including cybersecurity consulting among Global 2000 enterprises.

Following Thierry Delaporte’s promotion as Wipro’s CEO in October 2020, the IT firm has ventured on a spree of acquisitions.

The Texas-based cybersecurity firm Edgile was founded in 2001 and currently employs 182 people.

The announcement further notes that Wipro has over 220,000 employees and Edgile clients include 31% of the Fortune 100 and 20% of the Fortune 500.

Integrated suite, Wipro CyberTransform

Wipro and Edgile will collectively develop an integrated suite named Wipro CyberTransform allowing enterprises to improve boardroom governance of cyber security risk, invest in robust cyber strategies, and reap the value of practical security in action.

The Wipro CyberTransform will allow organizations to expand their digital transformation and operate in virtual, digital supply chains securely.

Tony Buffomante, Senior VP & Global Head of cybersecurity and risk services at Wipro Limited said, Adding Edgile’s strategic consulting capabilities and launching Wipro CyberTransform are significant milestones on our journey to becoming the trusted partner to security leaders and boardroom stakeholders.

He further said that he visualizes the Edgile team coordinating well with Wipro’s CyberSecurists to offer transformational cybersecurity globally.
