On Tuesday, several social media apps including ‘Snapchat’ and popular music streaming platform ‘Spotify’ went down after a brief global outage. Even Google Cloud was affected by the issue.
Thousands of users rushed to the popular outage tracking website ‘downdetector.com’ to report the issue with the above-mentioned apps.
Popular tech companies like Etsy, Spotify, and Snap Inc are Alphabet’s clients.
Shortly after the flooding of reports, Google partially resolved the issues with its Cloud Networking.
According to data on Google Cloud’s dashboard, Google’s internal services like cloud console, cloud developer tools, and cloud engine were encountering disruptions.
More than 50k users reported about the issue with the popular music streaming platform on Downdetector. Soon after this massive report, Spotify tweeted that it was aware of the issues and currently working on fixing them.
In the meantime, Snapchat Support also tweeted that it was aware that several Snapchatters are experiencing issues while using the app. The tweet further read that it is working on the fix and also suggested that users stay logged in.
After the issue has been resolved, Snapchat’s Twitter handle for support (@snapchatsupport) posted the following tweet:
Tuesday’s brief global outage comes just a month following a massive six-hour global outage that affected popular social media and messenger apps like Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp due to faulty configuration changes made on the company’s routing system. Even the employees at Facebook reported not being able to access the internal services of Facebook.
In June, the popular cloud company also experienced a major outage. Meanwhile, the company says that the outage was due to issues with the common cloud provider and not associated with Fastly’s edge cloud platform.
While we talk about the outages, the number of outages experienced during the last few months has significantly increased which is worrying.
