Jeff Bezos and his younger brother Mark Bezos will be on board the New Shepard vehicle’s first crewed flight scheduled on 20th July.
The Amazon founder Jeff Bezos stated that he along with his brother will fly to space on the first human flight launched by his space company, Blue Origin.
Mr. Bezos in his Instagram post stated that space flight was something that he wished to do all his life.
Blue Origin is likewise auctioning off a seat in the capsule for someone who will join the bros on the inaugural crewed flight.
As per Forbes magazine, Jeff Bezos is one of the richest people in the globe, he has a net worth of $186.2 billion which is roughly about £131.5bn Great Britain Pound (GBP).
Mr. Bezos posted a video on Instagram about his journey with his brother to the space,
On July 20th, I will take that journey with my brother. The greatest adventure with my best friend.
In the video Mr Bezos’s brother Mark called it a remarkable opportunity.
Bidding for a seat on the New Shepard( Blue Origin Vehicle’s name) reached $2.8M while Mr. Bezos declared his plans to take flight. Now, the bid for the first seat on New Shepard reached a high of $3.5M. The auction will conclude on June 10th and the live auction will take place on 12th June.
The New Shepard booster can land vertically on the ground after returning from space. The vehicle has been named after Alan Shepard, the second person and first US citizen to fly into space.
As per Blue Origin’s site the company aims to launch its passengers over 100 km roughly about 62 above sea level, letting them experience microgravity. The six berth capsule will return to earth under parachutes.
The first crewed flight comes just two weeks after Mr. Bezos plans to step down as Amazon’s CEO.
