American multinational technology company Amazon Inc has announced its plans to shut down its popular website ranking service Alexa.com after 25 long years of its operation.

For those who don’t know about Alexa.com, it is a popular web ranking service launched by Amazon in 1996.

The tool has a popular metric named Alexa Traffic Rank that offers users the estimated popularity of a website. Alexa.com uses the web traffic data from its partners to determine high-traffic websites and lists them according to their popularity on the internet.

Besides offering the data of website traffic rank the tool also offers a comprehensive suite of SEO and competitor analysis tools but with its paid subscription.

The eCommerce giant Amazon declared its decision to retire its web ranking service Alexa.com in May 2022 on its support page and was first spotted by Bleeping Computer.
