Microsoft begins rolling out the all-new Windows 11 Media Player app to Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel.
The new Media Player app is currently being rolled out to Microsoft’s latest operating system i.e Windows 11. The Media Player blends well with the look and feel of Windows 11.
Meanwhile, one thing you need to note is that installing the update for Windows 11 media player app will automatically replace the traditional Windows 10 Groove Music app.
Explaining the functionality of the new Media Player app, Mr. Dave Grochocki said that it includes a full-fledged library for better music browsing as well as creating and managing playlists. He further said that updating to the new Media Player will replace the Groove Music app.
Mr. Dave is the senior program manager lead for Microsoft’s Windows inbox apps team.
Microsoft’s new music and video player app for Windows 11 includes album art aka artist imagery with the options to view them in both full-screen and mini-player mode.
Additionally, the Media Player library will automatically include all your videos and audios from your system.
Now, looking at the features and design of the new Media Player app, it seems that Windows 11 Media Player app is specially crafted to replace the legacy Groove Music app.
Meanwhile, the old music player will continue to be available in Windows Tools. However, the default player will be the new Media player app for Windows 11.
Note: Currently, the Media Player app is available to Windows 11 testers in the Dev channel, Microsoft hasn’t given an exact date for the public release.
On Tuesday, Microsoft released Windows 10 21H2 feature update aka the November 2021 Update.
