Rackspace, a well-known cloud hosting provider across the globe has been opted by Open Clouds for Research Environments (OCRE) to offer Amazon Web Services (AWS) solutions to European researchers. As per the announcement, GEANT made the selection as part of the OCRE IaaS+ tender for commercial cloud services. GEANT is one of the largest research and education network in the globe. GEANT’s selection will empower research institutions and universities to shift their IT environments to the cloud.
Till now, European Researchers and the wider Educational Community have had their digital transformations restrained because of the lack of technical capabilities procurement frameworks. Now, the OCRE project aims to satisfy the demands of the commercial cloud services.
Mahesh Desai, Chief Relationship Officer, EMEA at Rackspace Technology stated that while European research institutions and universities are searching for ways to boost their journey to the cloud, the OCRE project eliminates barriers that create uninterrupted connection into the IT ecosystem.
