Mozilla Firefox 87 Smart Block
Mozilla explained in a blog post that Firefox’s private browsing windows blocked the trackers and third-party cookies. However, doing so, broke the website’s functions. Some of the examples are; images not appearing, website’s features not working, poor performance, or page not loading at all. So, to minimize the breakage, Mozilla Firefox 87 is now introducing a new privacy feature touted as SmartBlock.
SmartBlock does the job by offering local stand-ins for blocked third-party tracking scripts.
Additionally, the blog stated that these stand-in scripts act fair enough like the original ones to ensure that the website functions properly. They allow broken websites relying on the original scripts to load with their functionality intact.
“We understand that the SmartBlock strategy offers the best of both worlds i.e: strong protection of your privacy with a magnificent browsing experience as well.”, the blog reads
We are too excited about the Mozilla Firefox 87 Smart Block privacy feature.
Additionally, Chrome will soon redirect users to HTTPS websites as a default starting from Chrome version 90 HTTPS.
