Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates declared that he is resigning from the boards of Microsoft and Berkshire Hathaway. He announced his decision with a Linkedin post titled, Focusing My Time. With the decision of stepping down from two board of director positions Gates decided he will be concentrating on topics like global health, development, education, and his increasing commitment to tackling climate change.

In the Linkedin post titled, Focusing My Time, Gates said Microsoft will always be an important part of his life’s work. He also stated that his decision to step down from the board doesn’t mean stepping away from the company. He will be in contact with the CEO of Microsoft, Satya Nadella and technical leadership to help in achieving and shaping the company’s ambitious goals. Mr. Gates feels optimistic about the company’s current progress and how it will continue to benefit the world in the coming years.
Mr.Gates said he is looking forward to the next phase as a chance to maintain the bonds and connections that have meant the most to him. He will continue to contribute to two companies of which he is incredibly proud, and effectively prioritize his commitment to approach some of the world’s toughest challenges.
