2016 released Brave browser surpassed 20 million active monthly users a year after the stable 1.0 release.

At the same time last year, the browser had 8.7 million active monthly users, and out of the Brave 20 million active monthly users, 7 million are the daily users, which describes more than two times the previous year’s 3 million.

Brave stated that since Apple enabled other browsers to be set as the default option in iOS, Brave browser’s iOS user base has seen a 33% growth.

One of the advertised features of the browser is its powerful ad blocking, the user can opt-in for brave-powered advertisements. To boast about this, the company released a stat that it has hit 2 billion ad confirmation events and accomplished over 2,215 campaigns from more than 460 companies. The browser maker tells, its users have a click-through rate of 9%, way, and away surpassing the industry averages.

The Brave browser has its own cryptocurrency, Basic Attention Tokens (BAT), that user could utilize to tip the content creators. So far, more than 26 million of the tokens have been sent to the content creators.

Brendan Eich, CEO and co-founder of Brave stated,

Users are tired of the surveillance capitalism, and more than 20 million people have migrated to brave for a whole new web ecosystem with an opt-in ad economy that keeps them back in control of their browser experience.

Brendan additionally stated that brave browser 20 million monthly users is just a step in their journey to make privacy a default standard for all the Web users.

While Brave boasts of surpassing 20 million active monthly users, Firefox has reported a monthly user base of 220 million which is 10 times the brave 20 million monthly users. As per the statcounter, Firefox has a market share of 4 % while chrome has a market share of 66 %, this means it has install base in millions.
